Definition - future
noun.
1. The indefinite time yet to come
The indefinite time yet to come eh? Well for us mortals it's not indefinite, and so as an 18 year old i feel the need to make every year of my life count. Many times have i been told "you have your whole life ahead of you", which of course is true, but what's also true is that i could quite possible be a quarter of the way through my life and more recently i see people in their 40's, 50's and even 60's who just aren't happy and wish they'd done what they wanted when they were younger. And now i reach this 'younger', the magical time when all my life is ahead of me, and i'm stuck, frankly.
I have 3 options;
Número uno - Oxford Brookes to do Business and International Relations
Número dos - Gap year it; there are many things i can do...it wouldn't be a wasted year "as such" but lets just say that this option isn't my favourite.
Número tres - Bucks New University to do Motorsport
Ok, so unless i have to...number 2 isn't an option. I have nothing against people who take gap years or gap years themselves, infact for many people it's a great time where they get more confident before setting off to university. However for me, at this time, it's not my chosen option.
Right now onto the big choice....
As it stands, i have accepted a place at Oxford Brookes to do Business and International Relations (well technically not the International Relations bit at this moment, but lets not go into that). Now let us break down Oxford Brookes....
Positives
- Amazing university
- Even more amazing place to live (Oxford)
- Great course
- Course long term would be great
- Not necessarily what i want to be doing in terms of course specifics.
Business is great, and i love it as a subject, its a great course and long term it would give me a great grounding to do basically anything i want to do thats at all business related....however....lets go onto number 3....
Bucks New University
Negatives (first this time)
- It's no Oxford
- Not guarenteed a place in halls (although accomodation is guarenteed)
- CU is quite small
- No river (ala canoe club)
- Small university
- It's the type of place i could make my own, develop my own activities.
- All sport is paid for by the university
- It has a market (i'm very partial to a market)
- The course is, how do i put this, AMAZING!
See my predicament??
I'm going on an open day at the end of the month so will keep you posted.
The question is, future now? or future later?
