24 Hours of...erm...Bluewater :S

Ok....so i've got a few new readers which is good. Howdy to all y'all who are new.

So i've got an idea, one of many but an idea at that. For any of you that don't know, i'm a HUGE Motorsport fan and love getting involved in all that is Motorsport; Business, Engineering, Spectating, Racing...i love it all. And used to be a national level radio controlled (RC) touring car driver (if you haven't a clue what im on about click here to find out)

So like i said....i've got an idea.

So you've heard of the 24 hours of le mans or maybe you haven't, its basically....a 24 hour long motor race, a test of nerve, endurance and drivers ability to stay at the wheel of a 200mph for 4 hours at a time without crashing!! We'll, my idea is....a 24 hour RC race, now this might not sound like much of a challenge, but us RC races only last 5 minute races AND we don't have to concentrate for any longer than that. On a race day, we have 6 races maximum so the thought of 48 race days in 1 day sends the chills up even the most hardened racer.

Now it would take a whole lot of planning, and it'd be done for charity. My basic idea is 10 teams, all with the same chassis, tyres and motor (so no-one has an advantage), run in a shopping centre so that a) more people see the racing and b) so that more money is raised!!

I've asked around of one of the more popular RC Forums and all the guys and girls seem really pumped up for it. But like i said, it would take sooo much planning, lots of emailing me thinks...

For a spec (everyone has the same thing) race i'd need to organise;

  • 10 Cars
  • 10 Electronic Speed Controllers
  • 100 Sets of tyres (thats 400 tyres) thats 10 sets for each team.
  • 20 or 30 motors (because motors hve a tendancy to a) blow up or b) overheat when used for long periods) so 2 or 3 motors per team would do.
  • 10 Bodyshells (of different colours so drivers and spectators dont get confused)
  • A massive spares back up (because certain parts on rc cars need replacing after that long, and thats without any crashing)
  • Mains power
  • Race carpet
  • Barriers (on track to make a track and bigger ones off track to stop people
  • Any banners (for advertising)
  • 10 teams of 5 drivers each (all must have BRCA membership because of insurance issues)
  • A place to do it (shopping centre....lakeside? bluewater?)
  • Pits
  • A rostrum (to stand on, raised above the track)
  • All the other things i've miss off the list (of which theres probably lots)

As you can see theres lots to organise. BUT hopefully it will all come together eventually, although i probably should focus my energy on getting better....

Love to your mothers.

I cant help but think this was some what also greenpower inspired, with the cars having to have the same basic parts.

Id watch it :]

it's not at all greenpower inspired, plus greenpower only uses the same motor and batterys, im talking about everything, especially because a team with a good-consistant setup on their car would walk it.
